Bad Science: Poor CGI

First, they force you to sit though their previews of other movies. Second, the science is dumbed down bad. No, you cannot travel back in time; you cannot change history (duh!, period). Future, possibly, if you have the energy of a small Sun in your space or time machine & go the speed of light (ignoring all the problems with that). Third, cheap effects of done many times before (going back decades) of spinning concentric wheels & machinery; usual special object (orb in this case) & special chants; and where did the metal container w/defrosting come from, someone's refrigerator as inspiration - gawd! Fourth, no the Egyptians, Mayans & Easter Islanders (they did show nice photos of those locations though) did not traverse space & time unless you count going to the kitchen, bathroom, etc. Fifth, really bad robotic acting (that part was futuristic). Usual love hook for viewers not into sci-tech stuff. Yen must be hard up for money taking this job.

Ill advised and then some

The Donnie Yen vehicle ICEMAN was an ill-advised remake of a Hong Kong classic of the late 1980s starring the great Yuen Biao as the time-travelling hero and the equally great Yuen Wah as his adversary. This sequel, again starring Yen, took ages to get made and released and on reflection they probably shouldn't have bothered. This is a typically sloppy production, packed full of bad writing, plot holes, illogical scenes and random propaganda shoehorned into the mix. Yen is on autopilot while other familiar faces such as Simon Yam merely go through the motions in stock roles. The only joy I had came from seeing Yasuaki Kurata who still cuts it as one of the main villains. The running time is fairly short but feels twice as long thanks to the sheer inanity of it all, and there isn't even much in the way of action aside from at the CGI-laden climax.
