A grim ride

I've seen quite some thrillers / mystery / crime and it's hard to pin point a movie which manages to provide something new to this genre. Hands down, missing you does so on multiple levels. The true strength is the upmost twisted, crazy and tense woven storyline! It's a grim ride - hard to watch plenty of times, pitch black and shocking to the core. I've been looking for some sort of Seven successor (as this movie is quite often referenced as a northern star...) Missing you did for me this job. It never copied (only one scene is a nod to the silence of the lambs in my POV...SPOILER: ambulance car) but the rest is original, captivating, bleak and with an emotional finale which might be engraved in your memories for some time.

Another revenge story

I won't say I just loved it but it was pretty good. I felt some points are too exaggerating. Like how could a serial be released after serving only 14 years? Really!!

He killed almost 7/8 people including a police chief .When he released, someone started killing people the way he had killed people. So,cheif friend suspects him and started monitoring him. Though evidences prove, he didn't killed those but the new chief coundn't let him go. He just kept saying, he is guilty guilty without any evidence. On the other hand, the cheif daughter whose father was murdered, was doing all these killing to frame him for taking her revenge. Seriously ! How can a 20 years old girl can murder 4/5 people like the way serial killer did 14 years ago. Somehow she also frame him for her own murder. Thus he is sent to jail.

I like the story but it was too much to handle. There is no much suspense as all scenes are shown when she did all those killings. If it was shown at the end, it would be much better than it is now.

Under the radar

I'm a huge fan of South Korean cinema, particularly the classics like I SAW THE DEVIL and THE YELLOW SEA, so I was intrigued to see an under-the-radar batch appear on Amazon Prime. These films are barely marketed, poorly blurbed and MISSING YOU in particular is saddled with a bad title that makes it sound like a romcom. But the surprise is that this tense, twisty-turny serial killer flick is every bit as good as the better-known Korean classics in the west. It follows a serial killer who is sentenced and released 15 years later, and the ramifications of that release. Bloody shocks and multiple murders follow, along with the usual satire and great performances. The director only did this one film but handles his task adroitly, with great thrills and action and intriguing plotting throughout.
